About Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is considered one of the central branches of the Faculty of Engineering at Palestine Polytechnic University, due to its special importance in serving the local community, advancing industry, and keeping pace with the rapid development in various fields of life. The Department is currently offering a bachelor's program in mechanical engineering in five majors: Automotive Engineering, which was launched in 1990, Mechatronics Engineering, which launched in 1997, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering in 2003, Renewable Energy Engineering in 2019, and Production and Operations Engineering, which was launched in 2022.

The development of the various mechanical systems requires the use of staff capable of dealing with all advanced mechanical and technological systems in accordance with the engineering standards applicable in developed countries.  This technological development imposed the need of the local market for scientific and engineering expertise, so that the consulting and employing of specialized engineers in the various branches of mechanical engineering has become necessary.

The Bachelor's program in Mechanical Engineering ensures that students in all department specializations are provided with all the basic sciences in mechanical engineering, so that the student graduates as a mechanical engineer can practice all mechanical engineering works in addition to excelling in his fields of specialization. In addition, to the fact that graduates of mechanical engineering in all its branches possess sufficient ability and distinguished capabilities to pursue postgraduate studies if they wish to obtain higher academic degrees such as Masters and Ph.D.
