Electrical lab

The lab was founded in 1978. The lab primarily serves all department students from all majors enrolled in Electrical Circuits 1 and 2. The Electrical Circuits Laboratory seeks to teach students about electrical and electronic devices, as well as how to utilize them correctly. Furthermore, a set of experiments is explored to prove theories of electrical circuits in direct current and alternating current, as well as numerous applications in electrical circuits such as filter circuits and others. During tests, an included program is also utilized to simulate various electrical circuit networks. Practical circuits are used on instructional boards (kits) or by hand-building the appropriate circuits on breadboards and simulating the systems with special programs.

The competencies and skills covered in the lab:
  • Apply techniques and skills by using electrical and electronics Instrumentation correctly for measurement and calibration in electrical networks.
  • Apply simulation tasks for circuits designs.
  • Build electrical circuits for specific objectives in electrical circuits
  • Connect different passive electrical circuit in different combinations.
  • Verify all electrical circuits’ theories in DC and AC networks.
  • Verify specific applications experimentally.
Targeted students in the lab:
  1. All students of the Department of Electrical Engineering
  2. All students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering
  3. Computer Technology Engineering students
  4. Building Engineering students
  5. Students of the College of Engineering and students of industrial automation and electronics in the College of Applied Professions
Courses covered in the lab:

  • Electrical circuits
  • Analysis of electrical circuits for automotive engineering students
  • Electrical circuits and electronics for mechatronics students
  • Applied electricity for building engineering students
  • Principles of electrical circuits practical for diploma students
  • Applied electricity laboratory for diploma students
Major equipment and facilities in the lab:
  1. DMM
  2. Power Supply
  3. Function generator
  4. Osilsscope
  5. Bread Board
  6. Electrical and electronic components.
  7. Kits for Electrical circuit
  8. Computers
Occupational health and safety instructions of the lab:

  1. Get ready for the laboratory session and follow the teacher's directions.
  2. Before initiating the connection, make sure the work table's main switch is locked.
  3. Before connecting the electronic circuits, make sure that the power supply devices are off.
  4. Before turning on the circuit, make sure it is connected correctly once more after connecting it.
  5. In particular, avoid touching the 220 volt power supply outlets or any other exposed terminals for any reason.
  6. It is required to turn over any wounds or breaks in feeding wires to the laboratory official so they can perform the required maintenance.
  7. Make sure the equipment is operated properly, and if something goes wrong, give it to the lab supervisor so they can do the required repairs.
  8. Never smoke in the lab and refrain from bringing in any food or beverages.
  9. Get out of the lab and treat the situation with gravity.
  10. Ensure that everything is tidy and in its proper position at the conclusion of the experiment.
