Building Materials Technology Laboratory

Since the beginning of the establishment of the Civil Engineering Diploma specialty on the three-year academic study plan system in 1979, the Building Materials Technology Laboratory was established. This laboratory provides practical applications of the theoretical aspect of the Building Materials Technology course by conducting practical experiments and structural examinations of the various building materials used in construction and finishing. Buildings.

A comparison is made of the results obtained from the experiments with the Palestinian specifications. The laboratory includes several tests to determine the properties of building materials, including stone, aggregate, cement, bricks, tiles, and concrete mixtures.

The competencies and skills covered in the lab:

This laboratory provides the final score for the final outcome of the Building Technology course by conducting experiments and structural tests on the use of building materials used in constructing and finishing buildings and comparing the results that will be obtained from the experiments with the specifications Palestinian. Investigations include determining the properties of building materials including stone, coarse and fine aggregate, bricks, tiles and concrete mixtures.

Targeted students in the lab:

It covers practical courses for students of the Bachelor of Building Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Surveying Engineering, and Geomatics in the third and fourth semesters, and it also targets diploma students specializing in civil engineering in the second semester.

Courses covered in the lab:

1.  Building materials technology laboratory for bachelor’s degree building engineering students.

2.Asphalt laboratory for bachelor’s degree surveying engineering students.

3. Material testing laboratory 1 for diploma students.

Major equipment and facilities in the lab:

Compression devices for stone, concrete mixtures, and cement mortar, 4, tensioning device for cement mortar, flexural device for concrete mixtures, Vicat devices, 4, electronic and manual scales, molds for cement mortar samples for tension and compression, molds for cubic and cylindrical concrete mixtures, mixer, landing devices for concrete, a set of sieves coarse aggregate and fine aggregate.

Occupational health and safety instructions of the lab:

Provides the following: firefighter, first aid, masks to protect against dust resulting from experiments with building materials, gloves, and anti-noise headphones.
