The Society of Power Engineers is a non-profit organization founded by Albert Thomann in 1977 with more than 18,000 members in more than 100 countries. The mission of the society is to "promote the scientific and practical interests of those working in the energy sector and to promote work for sustainable development". It is an association concerned with energy engineering, energy management, and renewable energy. It offers a number of specialized and internationally accredited training courses.

The Society of Energy Engineers, the student branch at Palestine Polytechnic University, is one of the student branches of the Mother Society in Palestine. It was established and obtained official recognition in the year 2019 and includes about 40 active members. The vision is based on changing the lifestyle of energy engineering students by motivating them to participate in non-academic activities, events and programs offered by the association.

The society achievements

The society worked on  empowering the students of renewable energy engineering and the students of electrical energy technology engineering by integrating them with diverse energy sectors, introducing them to the labor market and its requirements, keeping members in direct contact with the most important developments in the field of energy and technology, and motivating new students to register for the bachelor of Renewable Energy Engineering and Electrical Energy Technology Engineering program.
