It is a non-profit society which was founded in 1852 to represent civil engineers around the world. The Society is the largest gathering of civil engineers in the world, with more than 140,000 members worldwide. Its objectives are based on introducing engineers to new technology, encouraging lifelong learning, upgrading the professionalism of its members and developing leaders capable of building a bright future.
