About the Department of Architectural Engineering

The department of Architectural Engineering at Palestine Polytechnic University specializes in the art and science of engineering and construction related to designing and building structures. Architects who graduate from this program are trained to design and implement architectural projects for various types of buildings, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures. The program also covers planning cities and suburbs, landscaping, and other areas.

Since its launch in 2003, the Architectural Engineering program has developed into one of the most important programs at PPU. Its main goal is to prepare architects who can make a positive impact on the local community by creating distinguished architectural designs and implementing them in various structures.

The program plays a critical role in confronting the challenges faced in this region, such as Judaization and abolishing the Palestinian identity. By studying and understanding the Palestinian architectural identity, architects are equipped with the skills to restore and protect existing structures.

One of the distinguishing aspects of the Architectural Engineering program is its focus on direct interaction with users and studying their special needs. This ensures that the design of the buildings and facilities prioritizes user comfort. The program covers aspects such as ventilation, lighting, and sound to achieve the highest level of satisfaction for users in various facilities.

In 2020, the department of Architectural Engineering launched a new specialization: Interior Design. This program focuses on achieving the highest level of comfort for users by studying the quality of the internal environment. The program covers aspects such as ventilation, lighting, and sound to ensure user satisfaction. Additionally, the program covers the use of natural materials and the preparation of executive drawings for furniture and decoration.

The Architectural Engineering and Interior Design programs share many courses and goals. By working together, they ensure complete interdependence from the beginning of the architectural design process to the interior design. This approach ensures that user comfort is prioritized, and the design is integrated, both inside and outside, to create a complete architectural image.

The Department of Architectural Engineering at PPU provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact on their community through the design and construction of distinguished architectural projects. With a focus on user comfort, the program equips students with the skills needed to confront regional challenges and protect Palestinian architectural identity.
