1 Automotive Mechanic Workshop
This workshop was established in 1982. It contains a variety of models
for automotive mechanical systems (ICE engines of different types, transmissions,
powertrain components, suspension, etc.). In addition to that the workshop is provided
with all the necessary tools for maintenance, assemble and disassemble the components
of automotive mechanical systems, also the workshop is provided with advanced adjusting,
diagnostic and tuning tools for the systems in order to served the educational purposes
that enable the students to be ready to deal with all of the systems available on
the market.
2 Automotive Electric and Electronic Workshop
This workshop was established in 1984. It contains a variety of models
of the up-to-date automotive electrical and electronic systems (all types of ignition
systems, lighting, fueling systems, automotive accessories, etc.). In addition to
that the workshop is provided with all the necessary tools for maintenance, assemble
and disassemble the components of automotive electrical and electronics system.
Also the workshop is provided with advanced adjusting, diagnostic and tuning tools
(computerized motors tester, last version of Autodata , automotive scanner
equipped with diagnostic software for all common vehicles available on the local
market), which served for educational purposes that enable the students to be ready
to deal with the systems available in the market.
3 Diesel systems workshops
In 1988 the department of mechanical engineering found it necessary
to widen the experience of the mechanical engineering. Students in diesel system
so this workshop has become a reality. It contains variety of model for diesel systems
either components or complete systems, and is provided with test bench for different
types of diesel pumps, injector calibration unit, calibration data, software, etc.
This workshop serves for educational purposes that enable students to be ready to
deal with systems available in the market.
4 Mechanical Engineering Workshop
In 1978 this workshop was established to enable the students to practice
different types of skills in dealing with manual tools and some cutting and drilling
machines, etc. The workshop is equipped with variety of tools (filling, drilling,
sawing, riveting, cutting and bending, etc.) that help the students to develop same
basic manual skills. Also it is provided with electric arc-welding, electrical wiring,
simple measuring electric devices and electrical elements of circuits.
5 Internal Combustion Engines
Lab
This lab was established in 1984. Since then the department of mechanical
engineering worked on the development of the lab by providing it with the up–to-date
equipments. This lab contains two types of dynamometers, single-cylinder engine
test bench (electrical dynamometer) and hydraulic dynamometer that serve in teaching
the internal combustion engines and support the research as well.
6
Applied Mechanics Lab
This lab was established in 1978. It contains a group of mechanical
(Geneva, Hook's joint, Constant speed joint, etc.). In addition to a number of devices
that used to measure the coefficient of friction, reaction forces, center of gravity,
moment of inertia and to study various static and dynamics situations. Besides that
there are devices to study the behavior of certain materials under stress and torsion.
7
Thermal Lab
It was established in 1978 and includes thermal plant (steam system)
in addition to air conditioning and refrigeration educational unit. This lab is
founded to give the students some practical experience of heat transfer and refrigeration.
8
Fluid Mechanical Lab
This lab was established in 1978. It contains a number of hydraulic
pumps (centrifugal pump, gear pump and reciprocating pump). In additions to a number
of devices such as pressure calibration gauge device, center of pressure device,
continuity equation device, Bernoulli's equation device venture device, etc.). Also
in this lab the students learn how to deal with mechanical fluid systems and their
problems (losses in pipes, orifices, etc.).
9 Metals Machining and Welding
Workshop
In this workshop the students learn how to use turning machine for
cutting and finishing operations, also the use of milling and grinding machines,
in addition to, welding techniques using electrodes and gas systems. Besides that
the workshop helps students to have their graduation projects to be built by their
own.
10 Intelligent system Lab
The "Lego Robots" considered the first step in the way of building
the intelligent systems lab, and the main idea is to have mechatronics systems consisting
of actuators of sensors, in addition to specific microprocessor that enable the
students to interface process between the system of the computers. This lab could
be used by students in the engineering college who are interested in this field.
11 Mechatronics
Lab
This lab was established in 2003. it has a verity of educational
system that include a robotic arm, CNC taming and milling machines, PLC units, computerized
conveyor system, and computer based training the units that enable the students
how to use CNC software. The idea behind that is to teach mechatronics engineering
students how to deal with the flexible manufacturing systems.
12 Hydraulic Systems Lab
This lab was established in 2002 with the aim to provide the students
with the practical experience necessary to deal with the hydraulic system available
in the local market. The lab is equipped with three training stations on which the
students can construct most of the common hydraulic circuit using valves of different
types and functions, hydraulic motors, connections, electrical driving circuits
and computer control facilities, etc. In addition to that, the students learn how
to obtain the characteristics of various types of pumps used in hydraulic systems.
