Mechanical Engineering is a creative profession concerned with combining human, material, and economic resources to satisfy the needs of society. In order to prepare the mechanical engineers of the future, the department has developed three unique educational programs of sufficient depth and breadth necessary to address the diverse technological challenges that face the local society.

The mission of department to satisfy the needs of society through excellence in education and research is accomplished through its educational programs, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, and Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Specialized courses constitutes one third of the total credit hours in each educational program, which takes into consideration all the basic disciplines of mechanical engineering .

Also, the great development of the different mechanical systems, seeks for engineers who are capable of dealing with all the modern technological systems, in accordance with international engineering standards. In deed, the scientific and engineering nature of these developments has obliged the local industry to resort to mechanical engineers with their different specialties.

Finally, graduates of mechanical engineering from all its branches, have the abilities and the requirements to pursuer graduate studies, in addition to joining specialized technical courses in all fields of mechanical engineering.
