Electrical and Computer Engineerring Labs

1. Microprocessor Lab

This lab was established in 1988, depending on the university budgets. In 2001 the, Emmarate Red Crescent Society funded the lab with new equipment. Now there are various micro controllers and microprocessors, maintenance training systems, a lot of sensors, motor application boards, application programming and measuring instruments. Students learn experiments on microprocessor courses; also the lab provides training in the field of graduation projects, introductory and pre-courses, sensors and system interfacing.

2. Electrical Circuits

It was establish in 1983, and contains Oscilloscopes, Function Generator, Power Supplies (DC & AC), Ammeters, Voltmeters, Digital multimeter, Resistance Decade Boxes, Capacitance Decade Boxes, Computers, Simulation Programs and applications, bread boards, Electrical Equipment and components and electronic elements.

3. Biomedical Instrumentation Lab

It was established in 1997, and was generously funded in 1998 by the Welfare Association. The lab consists of basic measurement devices for the four work stations, and a number of calibration devices for biomedical equipment. It covers the practical part for the biomedical engineering lab (I) and (II) which includes various experiments in analogue signal processing and cardiac signal processing. The lab has a large number of equipment including: Infant Incubator, Ventilator, Patient Monitor, Ultrasound, pH Meter, Oxygen Monitor and a number of training and experimental boards.

4. Electronics Lab

This lab was established in 1978, and contains different measuring, connecting and troubleshooting instruments in addition t the training boards. Courses in practical electronics and principles of electricity are covered in this lab. The most important experiments which are covered in this lab are: Study the prosperities of semiconductors; Diodes, Zener Diodes and their applications. Study the properties of transistors, FET’s.  Study IC’s; Timers and operational amplifiers. Helping students in some small projects. Making maintenance and repair for equipment in other labs and the whole university in general.

5. Electrical Workshop

The workshop was established in 1978 from the budgets of the university. It contains 14 working stations and recently equipped with 10 new cabinets for house installation. The capacity for the workshop is 20 students. The courses which are covered in the workshop are; Electrical workshop, Basic workshop, Motor winding and machine maintenance, Transformer winding, new methods of electrical installation. The workshop contains a lot of electrical measuring equipment. The workshop was newly modernized and moved to Wad Al-Haryah Building.

6. Digital Electronics Lab

This lab was established in 1978 as a part of the electronics lab and was separated in 1984. It covers the course of digital electronics design lab for the electrical and computer engineering department students, Machatronics engineering students, Computer Science students and Industrial Electronics associate degree students. In 2002, a development plan for the lab began by designing and preparing specialized experiments that covers the basic Digital Design concepts which contains; logic gates and using them in logic circuits, applied applications for using IC’s such as; Adding, Subtractions, Multiplexing, Coding, Counting, Registers, Design and Digital Control circuits and small projects. The lab contains new instruments, computers, power supplies, oscilloscopes, training boards, components, FPGA training system, simulation programs such as; circuit maker and electronic workbench.

7. Electrical Machine Lab

This lab was established in 1987. It has two experimental units that serve eight students in every section. This lab covers the Electrical Machine Lab course for the Industrial Automation Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Mechatronics students. The experiments covered in this lab include the DC, AC, and Synchronous, and Asynchronous Machines. The experiments also cover the Single and Three Phase transformers. The development plan for the lab includes; getting new experimental units, increasing the experimental units to increase the students of every section, helding training courses in the electrical machine field at the lab, and serving the local community by maintaining electrical machines.

8.Electrical Drive Lab

This lab was established in 1994 in co-operation with the German Government through the GTZ organization. It contains; AC and DC machines, Electrical loads, measuring and control devices, controllers, electronic components and IC’s, power supplies, oscilloscopes, frequency converters, X-Y chart recorders, …, etc. The lab covers many courses such as; Electrical Drive Lab I, Electrical Drive Lab II, Power Electronic Lab, and Applications in Electrical Drive Systems.

9.  Industrial Automation Lab

This lab was established in 1994 in co-operation with the German Government through the GTZ organization. It contains; PLC’s, traditional control systems for motors, pneumatic and electro-pneumatic control systems, controllers, earthing test devices, industrial machines, …, etc. The lab covers many courses such as; automatic control lab, control systems lab, electrical workshop, pneumatic and hydraulic systems lab, electrical drive lab II, and it also serves the graduation project students.

10. PC Applications Lab

This lab was established within the cooperation project between French and Palestinian Universities , and it was developed as an essential step to keep track with local and international developments in computer applications. This lab services the graduation project students and other courses' projects in the department, and other departments. So students can analyse, design, and simulate different electrical and electronics circuits. Also they are allowed to design monitor and control systems, read and process signals.

11. Projects Lab

This lab was established in 1990, and this lab found to hold the under graduated student during their Graduation project phases In this lab we try to help the student by improve their idea, support, place to work and all the necessary devices and tools they may need.

11. Industrial Application lab
It serves the practical graduation projects and different courses projects in the department (control system, electrical circuit, electronics, electrical machine, measurements and sensors, counters, timers, pneumatic system, power electronics, electrical drives, automatic control, protection of electrical system, design and analysis circuits by using computer,…etc).
