The College of Engineering
and Technology (CET) was founded in 1978 as the first primary institution
in the field of vocational and technical education in the region.
The CET now includes three departments which offer ten Bachelor
programs, and one master program. These programs are all accredited by
the Palestinian Ministry of education. The college is known for its quality and diversity
of academic and professional programs. Its primary objective is to help the students to revitalize
a well –trained mind by providing optimal educational opportunities for
achieving and maintaining professional competence. This includes a resiliency for continuing competence by offering programs designed to promote successful
adaptation to a rapidly changing technology in prospective careers. The college programs give students a broad educational background on the undergraduate level, which includes the
preparation of students in the basic and applied sciences, engineering analysis, design and practice
and a sequence of courses in the humanities and social sciences. Students cover about 160 credit hours in five – year programs.
The CET has 1500 enrolled students
on the undergraduate level. This demonstrates the growing interest in the kind of the technical training
offered by the college. The number of college members has also grown during the
period. While there were only ten college
members when the college was founded, the college nowadays has 50 full-time college
members. Further increase is expected in the days to come.
The buildings of the college are located at Wadi ALhariya area to the south- west
